Package Itinerary

Enjoy this 3 days 2 nights trekking in the Xepian National Protected Area, a 240,000 hectares of extensive wetlands, famous for its rare wildlife. Take part of this long but easy 3 days trek giving you the chance to see elephants, Asiatic black bears or gibbons, visiting ethnic villages and experiencing one night in the jungle…

This tour can be done all year long. Tour starts: 08.00am – Tour ends: 17.00pm 2 days later.


Day 1: Pakse>> Ban KietNgong>>Xepian National Protected Area.
We leave Pakse around 08.00am and go to Ban KietNgong, a small village just before the Xepian National Protected Area. We meet our guide who will give us information about the Xepian NPA.
From the village we start our 5 hours trek and walk through the forest. We might have the chance to see elephants around Ban KietNgong. We have a picnic lunch and take time to rest and relax.
After lunch, we continue our trek through the canopy and the lower section of the forest and may have the chance to see monkeys around and we can hear the many different birds each one with its own call.
We finish our trek around 16.30pm and set up the camp before we have an own cooked diner in the middle or the jungle.

Day 2: Xepian National Protected Area (Elephant riding possible on demand).
We wake up early and take our breakfast around 07.30am, listening to the sounds of the jungle. We start our trek and discover the famous Xepian wetlands where very few tourists have been.
After around 2 hours and a half, we stop to have our picnic lunch and relax for a while. Then, we continue our walk through deep forest, discovering giant ancient trees, and crossing many small rivers.
We stop our trekking arriving to the Nam Ta Euang River, and set up our camp to have diner and spend the night on this marvelous site.

Day 3: Xepian National Protected Area >> Ban KietNgong>>Pakse.
We wake up early again and have our breakfast hearing the many birds singing in the jungle, and even maybe you could have the chance to see the rare yellow cheeked gibbons that live there.
We start our trek along the banks of the Nam Ta Euang River and arrive at the beautiful PhouAsa that offers stunning views on the Wetlands.
We continue trekking through thick bamboo forest and stop for our picnic lunch, before walking back to Ban KietNgong where we take our car to drive back to Pakse.
