Package Itinerary


Pick up at the hotel then drive to the pier and board a traditional riverboat for a 2-hour cruise down the Mekong River to the former Royal capital of Champasak. Upon arrival, continue by road to the ruins of Vat Phou, Lao World Heritage sites recognized by UNESCO in 2001. We have time to explore these fascinating Khmer ruins, which are perched at the base of Mount Phou Kao. This wonderful archaeological site of Khmer civilization dates back to the 10th century, predating the famous Angkor Wat in Cambodia. After that we will visit Champasak ancient town driving through streets lined with French colonial buildings. Champasak was once a great and prosperous land, founded in 1713 by the Lao King Nokasad, one of three Kingdoms of Laos.

After lunch we will then drive to Ban Nakasang pier and take long tail boat to the liveliest island in the river archipelago called Dondet.

Overnight in Dondet.


The next morning, we will go to explore the Old French Port in Dondet. Then we will cross the historic bridge of Donkone-Dondet. You will see an array of relics from the French colonial era and retrace the old colonial past. You will see old locomotive and the history behind it, the remnants of the first Lao railway and the beauty of the Island.

We will then go to Li phi Falls, one of the most beautiful waterfalls marking the end of Lao border to Cambodia, also known as the Samphamith waterfall. We will then travel by boat to see the threatened species in the world; the freshwater Irrawaddy dolphins.

 After that we will go to Hangkhone village pier to see the best view nearby Cambodia border.

Overnight in Dondet.


After spending a night at Dondet you will go to Koneprapheng Waterfall. We will first take a slow boat for 25min. Then drive about 15min from Nakasang road to Khone Phapheng waterfall. It is the biggest waterfall in Southeast Asia and has been named the Pearl of Mekong River. It’s a flow section of the Mekong River which has length of 4000 kilometres from Tibet. The waterfall has height of 21 meters, consists many small waterfalls stretching over 12 kilometres the length of river. It has been dubbed the “Niagara of Asia”.

At the end of the tour, you will be then be transferred to the Cambodian border or to Pakse Airport/ Pakse Chongmek (Thai border).
