Itinerary

Day 1: Pakse - Don Det (Lunch + dinner)

After pick up at your hotel, we will drive on the National Road No. 13th south to Champasak and to visit the fascinating pre-Angkorian ruins of Vat Phou, one of Southeast Asia's most dramatically situated temples. We have time to explore these intriguing Khmer ruins, which are perched at the base of Mount Phu Kao. Vat Phou is one of the Lao World Heritage sites recognized by UNESCO in 2001, this wonderful archeological site of Khmer civilization dates back to the 10th century, predating the famous Angkor Wat in Cambodia.

We continue our journey back to Pakse then we drive on Road No. 13 south to Don Det Island (about 3hours). Don Det is well known and a famous Island for young packager tourist in the South of Mekong river region (known as the 4000 islands), one of the most scenic areas in Laos.

Overnight in Don Det Island

Day 2: Don Det – Don Khone(BF + Lunch + Dinner)

After an early breakfast, we start cycling at Don Det and go to Don Khone island where you will see an array of relics from the French colonial era and retrace the old colonial past, including old French colonial buildings and the remnants of the first Lao railway with its locomotive. We continue discover the 4000 islands area by boat at our leisure to visit the Liphi waterfall, one of the most beautiful waterfalls marking the end of Lao border to Cambodia, also known as the Samphamith waterfall. After that we will cycling about 15min to Hangkhone village pier where we will take the slow boat, for about 20min, to see the rare freshwater Irrawaddy Mekong dolphin nearby the Cambodia border. After that we will go back to Don Det Island.

Overnight in Don Det Island 

Day 3: Boat trip around 4000 Islands & fishing (BF + lunch + dinner)

After breakfast at the hotel, we will go with the boat to Nagasang village pier. From here we will take a private car to visit Khone Phapeng waterfall, the largest waterfall in South East Asia, known as Niagara of the east. After that we return back to Nagasang village pier and here our boat will go travel around the 4000 islands. At first we will visit Dompordee Island where they make local whisky and baskets for sticky rice. After that we will go fishing by local fishing rod until 17:30 PM. Then we go by boat to watch the best sunset view on our way back to Don Det.

Overnight in Don Det Island.

Day 4 : Don Det - Bolavean - Tadlo (BF + Lunch+ Dinner)

Upon leaving Don Det Island, we continue our journey towards Tadlo, through Bolaven Plateau. The Bolaven Plateau is known for its cooler temperature being located high above the Mekong Valley. Rivers run off this high plateau in all directions and then plunge out to lush forests along in a series of spectacular surging waterfalls. A trip to the plateau provides a refreshing break from the heat and allows you to observe the cultivation of rich coffee, tea, cardamom, bananas, and other crops that can be seen en route. This trip gives visitors the chance to venture off the beaten track and to discover some of the lesser-known areas of Laos, exploring the wild beauty of this southern region. Upon arrival at Tad Lo waterfall, we visit the villages of Alak, Nge, and Katu, populated by ethnic minority groups. 

Overnight in Tadlo 

Day 5: Tadlo - Pakse – Departure (BF)

After breakfast we will return to Pakse town. (Including transfer to Pakse airport or Ubon Ratchathani, airport of Thailand)
